This beach-themed lighthouse is lathed by hand on a machine. Each one is different, as I freehand the design with each order. I choose a piece of wood, place it between the spinning points, and use sharp tools to 'carve' it into the shape!
Your choice of natural wood, or a replica of some famous lighthouses (fun fact: Big Sable Point is near me!). Wood types may vary, but are typically a hardwood such as maple, hickory, or similar. Wood is finished with wax and oil to prevent cracking, however wood may still demonstrate some cracking or warping especially in very humid or very dry conditions. To control this, apply regular coats of linseed oil, mineral oil, or beeswax polish. Wood glue used to attach door piece near the bottom of the lighthouse, wood filler sometimes used to fill cracks or holes, and stain used for color. Customization available upon request.
